The ACTUAL Good Enough Guy
Maybe I can make it, maybe I can’t.
Either way, I’m going to have fun trying!
Who we are
I teach Middle School History and my students found me! I always planned on using my YouTube channel for something so I figured what better time to start? I have many hobbies and one of them is woodworking , so I figured maybe if my students are going to follow me for my old content, I should just get my crafting up and see what happens.
That said, I have been doing this for a couple of years and decided to take it to the next level. I build random stuff, often inspired from our favorite hobbies (scifi/ nerd/ geek fun!) I do this with my other half; she does a lot of detail and epoxy work. I could NOT have done this without her.
The Good Enough Guy Crafts is mainly a woodworking page, but also a space to conduct work for our other passions. Aa handful of other pet projects will be posted here, including some research I will need your help with. We do hope you will be willing to participate!
——BACKGROUND——
Joined the US Navy at 18 years old, but had some personal issues which caused me to Honorably discharge after just three years. Spent a good portion of my youth misspent and often on the verge of losing everything. After many adventures, hard years and marrying an awesome woman that eventually got me on my path, here I am.
Graduated college with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in May 2020. Attempted to pursue a career in a field that would not hire aged adult graduates for monitored work to acquire licensure. I started substitute teaching at 49 and now I am at 51 years old with two years of full-time teaching History to Middle School Chaos Goblins.
I survived a stroke in April of 2022. I had lost the entire left side of my body for a while but managed to PT myself up to about 60% to 75% strength and dexterity in my left hand, arm, and leg. It has taken a toll on me, but I LOVE woodworking and it has been incredibly helpful in my continued recovery. Sure, I can’t do all the hard work I used to, but I’m just glad I am still here to enjoy my family and my passions.
I am not a “great” woodworker, nor do I strive to be. I use the craft to create build and ASMR videos on YouTube. I have few followers, that include a handful of current and previous students as well as a handful of others. I would be happy with creating a mildly successful woodworking venture to keep me occupied and the crafting habit fed. I’m also looking forward to working on research for a book.
I will definitely keep things, "Good Enough!" This will be mostly wood working, but expect a hodge-podge of other randomness, because why not keep it interesting?
THANK YOU!
